This includes the installation of new valves to our water tank to provide greater flexibility going forwards with regards to quarry discharge. \nSo that the new valves can be installed\, we need to suspend water discharge from Whatley quarry to the Mells River at the Wadbury outfall between 08.00-18.00 on Saturday 20th September 2025.    \nWe have delayed scheduling the work until now\, after significant rainfall\, to help mitigate any impact on river flow. We have also been liaising with Holcim’s Torr quarry to ensure augmentation levels to the Mells River\, via Whatley Brook\, are sustained while our own pumping to Wadbury outfall is off. The Environment Agency is aware of the upgrade and the steps involved. \nIf you have any questions about this\, or any other aspect of our operations at Whatley quarry and/or across our local landholding\, please do get in touch. You can reach us either by calling our free phone number: 0800 644 4234 or emailing us at: whatley.quarry@uk.heidelbergmaterials.com \nDo feel free to share this information with your local contacts. \nVincent Pitt Area General Manager – Mendips & Masters / Aggregates  URL:https://greatelm.org/event/whatley-quarry-to-suspend-water-discharge-8am-6pm/ CATEGORIES:Mells,Village Event END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID=Europe/London:20250913T103000 DTEND;TZID=Europe/London:20250913T120000 DTSTAMP:20261025T020415 CREATED:20250901T105316Z LAST-MODIFIED:20250903T101428Z UID:5124-1757759400-1757764800@greatelm.org SUMMARY:Coffee & Cake DESCRIPTION:Coffee & Cake \nSaturday 13th Sept in the Village Hall \n10.30 to noon. \n£3 – any profits to Village Hall Repairs URL:https://greatelm.org/event/coffee-cake/ LOCATION:Great Elm Village Hall\, Village Hall\, Great Elm\, Somerset\, BA11 3NZ\, United Kingdom CATEGORIES:Village Event ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/jpeg:https://greatelm.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/CoffeeCake-e1756724609440.jpg END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID=Europe/London:20250727T150000 DTEND;TZID=Europe/London:20250727T170000 DTSTAMP:20261025T020415 CREATED:20250721T135644Z LAST-MODIFIED:20250722T063824Z UID:4929-1753628400-1753635600@greatelm.org SUMMARY:Tea at Glebe House DESCRIPTION:Tea at Glebe House \nSunday 27 July 3pm \nCroquet\, Garden Games\, Swimming and Tea \nAll children must be supervised at all times URL:https://greatelm.org/event/tea-at-glebe-house/ LOCATION:Glebe House\, Glebe House\, Great Elm\, Somerset\, BA11 3NY\, United Kingdom CATEGORIES:Village Event ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/png:https://greatelm.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/2025_GlebeHse-Tea-1.png END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID=Europe/London:20250705T110000 DTEND;TZID=Europe/London:20250713T170000 DTSTAMP:20261025T020415 CREATED:20250606T080143Z LAST-MODIFIED:20250629T134847Z UID:4865-1751713200-1752426000@greatelm.org SUMMARY:ARTHAUSGREATELM DESCRIPTION:5 – 13 July Visit Junefield\, Great Elm for Ceramic\, Sculpture and Paintings \nOpen Daily 11am – 5pm \nVenu #34 part of  Frome Art Trail \n  \n  URL:https://greatelm.org/event/arthausgreatelm/ CATEGORIES:Frome Event,Village Event ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/png:https://greatelm.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/Arthaus-Great-Elm-Red-1.png END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID=Europe/London:20250621T160000 DTEND;TZID=Europe/London:20250621T173000 DTSTAMP:20261025T020415 CREATED:20250615T102129Z LAST-MODIFIED:20250615T165121Z UID:4882-1750521600-1750527000@greatelm.org SUMMARY:Tea at Tynings DESCRIPTION:Saturday 21 June 4pm \nJoin Carol & Colin for Afternoon Tea at their home Tynings\, Great Elm \n£10 per head £5 for children \n\n\n\nEnjoy a delicious afternoon tea – finger sandwiches\, scones\, cakes and sweet treats in our peaceful and charming garden.
