DESCRIPTION:Her Music Concert – Diane Birch is an American singer-songwriter and pianist whose more than decade long career as a recording artist and touring musician has earned her critical acclaim and a worldwide fanbase. Her 2009 debut album Bible Belt garnered rave reviews and international success which lead to touring and performing alongside legends such as Stevie Wonder\, Bryan Ferry\, Daryl Hall\, Dave Stewart\, Joan Armatrading\, Elvis Costello and more. \n \nHer life took a major detour after moving to Mells in Somerset in 2020 where she found herself consumed by a growing love of gardening. This eventually lead to her taking on the running of The Walled Garden at Mells with Cosmo Fry which continues to be a huge passion and inspiration. However\, her love of music and deep need to continue creating and sharing her gift with the world has only grown stronger as a result. She is currently working on a new album largely inspired by this new chapter of life.  \n

DESCRIPTION:Sergio Bucheli Lute Music Evening at \nMells Walled Garden \n​Sergio Bucheli moved to the UK from Mexico to study at the Yehudi Menuhin School thanks to a bursary funded by The Rolling Stones. \nIn September 2017\, Sergio was awarded ABRSM Scholarship to study at The Royal Academy of Music with Elizabeth Kenny. \nA sought after continuo player\, Sergio is the principle lutenist of The English Concert and The Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment. \nHe also plays with Les Arts Florissants\, Pygmalion\, Arcangelo and Le Poeme Harmonique among others. \nSergio is often a guest musician for The Royal Opera House\, Opera National de Paris and Opera North. \nA keen chamber musician\, he often collaborates as a duo with Lawrence Power and various singers including Iestyn Davies\, Ruby Hughes\, Hugh Cutting and Tim Mead.

DESCRIPTION:As part of our ongoing investment at Whatley quarry we are carrying out improvements to our quarry dewatering systems. This includes the installation of new valves to our water tank to provide greater flexibility going forwards with regards to quarry discharge. \nSo that the new valves can be installed\, we need to suspend water discharge from Whatley quarry to the Mells River at the Wadbury outfall between 08.00-18.00 on Saturday 20th September 2025.    \nWe have delayed scheduling the work until now\, after significant rainfall\, to help mitigate any impact on river flow. We have also been liaising with Holcim’s Torr quarry to ensure augmentation levels to the Mells River\, via Whatley Brook\, are sustained while our own pumping to Wadbury outfall is off.
